Legendary space rockers Hawkwind have announced an unexpected special guest will be joining their ranks at their London Royal Albert Hall show this Friday (September 29) – rave-era hero and producer William Orbit.

Orbit says of the collaboration: “The first LP I ever bought at a record store was In Search of Space. I had two dreams at age 14; to meet Jimi Hendrix, and to be on a stage with Hawkwind. Well Jimi died, but here I am about to fulfil dream number two!!! Feeling very cosmic at the moment.”

It’s not the first time fans of Hawkwind have emerged from unexpected corners of the music world – John Lydon confessed he made a habit of seeing the band when he was a teenager, and shoegaze lynchpins Spiritualized and My Bloody Valentine also professed to beign under the influence of the band.

Hawkwind are celebrating the rituals and odysseys of space on the 50th anniversary of their acclaimed Space Ritual album. They’ll also be joined for this psychedelic extravaganza, by very special guests, The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown.
