Premiere: Tom Churchill’s hypnotic analogue jam ‘Known Unknowns (edit)’ from Innate’s latest V/A 12″ | Juno Daily

Churchill opus opens up the latest EP from Bristol’s Innate label

Bristol’s respected Innate label drops its first release of 2024 – a four track 12″ EP featuring a mix of different top notch techno talents.

UK veteran Tom Churchill opens up with ‘Unknown Unknowns (Edit)’, which brings plenty of fuzzy and lo-fi aesthetic to jacked up drums and spaced-out pads. Rai Scott then shows her class with ‘Suasion’ that sinks down deep into immersive drums and is subtly lit up with simmering strings.

Innate co-founders Owain K and Gilbert then hook-up under their brand new alias Curved Space and showcase their love of electro with ‘Reverie,’ a dreamy cut that glows with nice celestial melodies and will have dance floors in a zoned-out state. Last of all it’s Lisbon mainstay Jorge Caiado who debuts with the chord-laced ‘Floating Without Lifting,’ a sophisticated and serene jazz-techno cut that takes you to the stars.

Tom Churchill and the Innate label have kindly shared his contribution with Juno Daily readers well ahead of its release on May 20. Hailing from Wales but now a permanent resident in the quiet surroundings between Glasgow and Edinburgh, Churchill has been involved with electronic music since the mid-90s as a DJ, producer, promoter, writer and label owner.

He co-founded and ran Headspace Recordings and its sister label Emoticon from 1997-2006 and been one half of The Nuclear Family since 2014. These days, he hosts a monthly radio show on Radio Buenavida and produces video tutorials on music production, as well as managing operations and content at Signal Sounds, a retailer and distributor of synths, Eurorack modular systems and recording gear.

“Am really pleased to see this ten year old analogue jam I made finally see the light of day …” he told us.
