Premiere – ‘Eusthenopteron’ from Tokyo’s House Violence | Juno Daily
Hybrid sounds from Japan’s young master
After a succession of well received appearances on compilations, House Violence – born in Kyoto and Tokyo-based – makes his first appearance for Canada’s Yung Dumb label with a versatile four track EP ‘Lucy Time’.
Said to be characterised by “the hybrid sound”, namely using old school gear & modern software, the likes of ‘Lucy Time’ and ‘Eusthenopteron’ show a love of classic deep house grace and shimmer, techno inventiveness and UK garage swagger. Nice work, in other words.
The producer has given us ‘Eusthenopteron’ to share with you ahead of the EP’s release on March 29.

“Do you know Eusthenopteron?” he asked, when quizzed on the track’s title. “It is an ancient fish that was out of water toward land and became an ancestor of amphibians. I named this track after the fish, because I had felt like the deployment of the track is similar to the evolution that is fishes to amphibians.
“This track “Eusthenopteron” is changing gradually from deep and atmospheric sound (like water) to dry and acid groove (like land) . I used an MPC2000, vintage TB-303 and Studio One (modern DAW) for the production. Hope you enjoy the hybrid texture!”
